Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career working as a TV and radio reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. After two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. She was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs correspondent for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV program Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. Mitchell was on an advisory panel during the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in journalism. In 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering in the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy issues, such as the arm control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to numerous summits in the company of the President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
