Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. On October 21, 2016 she dropped Pho, her first EP on the Dreamville Records label. That was the day she began to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox began posting her music to the internet in 2012 as she dropped her first mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. In 2014 she continued to upload her music via the web, including her own release single Bound. On July 21 2015 Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat It Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time and wanted her to perform on Rihanna and Rihanna-related songs. Her announcement to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. Backseat was her contribution for The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. The 21st of October, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released titled Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened with the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. The singer also performed on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus with Bas, her labelmates. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video for it was also released on September 5th. On November 9 the singer released two new singles: the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Then, in November 2013, she released her debut album No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make appearances on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She released this track as a single to promote her debut titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. This track, which was released with a video uploaded to YouTube 20 February 2019 has been watched over three million times over the first 7 days. In support of the track She toured in concert with 6LACK in December of 2018 for their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
